SORT
/ TALLY SCANNING:
Lumber Trim Block Sorter
The
purpose of the Trim Block Sorter
System is to provide individual board scanning, tracking and
sorting.
The
scanner head takes measurements at 1-inch intervals along the
board length and at 0.030-inch intervals along the board width. The Data
Acquisition application reads the scanner head sensors, creates individual
block profiles for each of the sensor pairs space and sends the
whole board data to the Data Processing application for data manipulation and sort designation.

|
The
Data Reporting part of the application stores the shift
data into a database for shift and history report generation.
The picture shows a 30 inch dual (top
and bottom) scanner head with 1-inch reading intervals along the
board. Different length /resolution scanner
systems will be produced on customer demand.

Log Sorter Scanner
The
scanner system measures the diameter, position and length of
each log passing longitudinally through the scanner heads. The
computer reads the data from the scanner and the encoder,
determines the log diameter, length, volume,
sweep, taper and flare, and concludes the
log sort destination that is then sent
to the existing 5-40 PLC for tracking. The computer also
provides a graphical user interface between the operator and the
controlled system (a succession of screens displaying production
information, report selection, system parameters and alarms).
Production reports are generated and saved at the end of every
shift.

The
scanner head takes measurements at 1-inch intervals along the log length
with a reading accuracy of 2mm.
